Stephanie Scoggins is my best friend and mentor. Better known as Makatt by the musical community here in Chattanooga, she is a guitarist and songstress. But one thing about her that most people do not know is that she is also a witch. This is not why I met her though. I met Stephanie as a musician looking for bandmates online. I was looking for a female guitarist and songwriter, and she was looking for... anyone. I e-mailed her and we met up. Having become friends shortly after, we realized that we had much more in common than music. We both believe in magic. Not just your typical rabbit-in-a-hat magic, but old magic. The kind of magic that comes from your soul on a moon-lit night when you're alone and the candles are lit. She instantly saw the spirituality in me. However, not a practicing witch yet, she knew that I was open. She asked me if I was a witch, to which I replied, "No." But as our bond grew and our friendship flourished, I began seeing more and more into that side of her. We believed the same things about the earth and the moon. We had the same questions for our Christian parents and teachers. We became not only friends, but musical soulmates, and after that, spiritual soulmates. I began my Wiccan practices on October 31, 2009. I had begun a journey of souls, a climax in spiritual awakening. This was my time to learn and to grow. My time to realize who I truly was all along. A witch.
This is a little paragraph I wrote about embracing something about myself that was always there.
